[edit] Notes

From InSoc.org:

In March of 1983, we took 5 of the songs we'd been performing live for the last 9 months and recorded them at Blackberry Hill studio in Minneapolis, in a part of town affectionately known as "Dinkytown". (I swear I am not making that up.) They had a huge plate reverb hanging in the basement. We did all 5 songs, including vocals, in 14 hours, for $600. Since it was only 1983 and we were too poor to be on the cutting edge of technology, we had no MIDI equipment, and only very minimal sequencers (not counting the drum units). This is mostly a "live-played" electronic album.
Since there are only 5 songs, we called this "The InSoc E.P.". "E.P." stood for "Extended Play (single)" and was a term used to refer to recordings with too many songs to be called a "single", and too few to be called an "album". This was a 12-inch, 45 rpm vinyl disc. Only 100 copies were printed, and many of those were eventually thrown away.
